The second best city for doing business in China is Guangzhou. Guangzhou is not as well-known as Shanghai and Beijing, but it has the potentials for international business. Guangzhou is the business hub in the southern partof mainland China. It is also a major port city and is adjacent to Hong Kong, which is a well-developed financial center in the world. It is the leading commercial and manufacturing center in China.
Advantages
Guangzhou has well-established transportation system and has a modern international airport. It has the advantage of a closer economic partnership with Hong Kong, allowing goods to come into China more easily from Hong Kong. Many U.S. companies have outsourced its manufactories to Guangzhou, for example, many Wal-mart suppliers are located in Guangzhou. It is good place for finding cheap labors and high quality products.
Disadvantages
However, Guangzhou is an old city in China, so there is a difficulty in expanding the city around the historical sites. Many people in Guangzhou speak Cantonese, which is a dialect of Chinese and sounds completely different from mandarin Chinese (standard language of mainland China).
